Reflexology is based on an ancient form of therapy which has been used for centuries. However, the true origin of Reflexology is unknown.
Throughout different civilisations and the centuries, there seems to be a common use of a foot and hand therapy being practiced helping people to better health, as depicted in the tomb of Ankamhoor dated 2330 BC. in ancient Egypt.
The drawings found in the tomb are of two patients receiving some form of foot and hand treatment from the eminent physician Ankmahor and his assistant. The hieroglyphs have been interpreted and it appears that the patient is asking the therapist not to hurt him. The patient, too, has placed his hand under his arm to show where he feels the pain. The physician appears to apply the pressure to the corresponding area of the foot. This indicated that the ancient Egyptians were aware of a method of treatment similar to reflexology.
There is some confusion about the true origin of this powerful therapy, sufficient to say that Reflexology has stood the test of time and has helped thousands of people to better health.
Studying reflexology provides a valuable opportunity to connect with a healing tradition that is both ancient and enduring, offering numerous benefits for those seeking holistic approaches to health.
New term: Co. Donegal – January 04/05th, Jackson’s Hotel – Ballybofey.
