A Status Red wind warning has been issued for counties Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Clare and Galway as Storm Darragh approaches.
Meanwhile, Status Orange wind warnings have been extended across the rest of the country.
The Red warning will be in effect in Mayo from 10pm tonight until 3am tomorrow morning, in Clare and Galway from 10pm until 2am tomorrow and in Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 11pm until 3am tomorrow.
The storm is set to bring heavy rain and strong winds to all counties.
Very strong and gusty northwest winds are set to hit Munster and Connacht from 8pm while the warning is in effect for Leinster and counties Cavan and Monaghan from 10pm.
Met Éireann said possible impacts of the storm could include fallen trees, damage to power lines, difficult travelling conditions, damage to temporary structures and wave overtopping along the coast.
The Status Orange warnings will be in effect until 10am tomorrow.
