An ‘affordable’ island off the west coast of Donegal has just come on the market.
Campbells Auctioneers is looking for €89,950 for the uninhabited 25 acre Roan Inish (Island of Seals) in the Atlantic Ocean, 5K from Portnoo.
The outcrop can only be accessed by private boat. It consists largely of agricultural lands, however, there are the remains on some old ruins to the western side.
It was also the location for The Secret of Roan Inish, a 1994 independent fantasy–adventure film written and directed by John Sayles.
“Ever wanted to own your own island? – well now you can,” the Dungloe-based estate agent stated in their sales literature.
“Campbells are delighted to have been favoured with instructions to place this island onto the open market – rarely does such an opportunity come around.”
