Back by popular demand again for its fourth year, CBM Signs and friends are once again going to Light Up Letterkenny with a spectacular charity run.
On Sunday, 15th of December Letterkenny will see a festive array of tractors, vans, trucks, classic cars, rally cars and motor bikes touring through the town.
To date over Є10,000 has been raised for local charities and this year all donations will be going to Blood Bikes North West and the Donegal Hospice.
Bernard Gallagher From CBM Signs explains what is planned for the nightL “The first year in 2021 was during lockdown it was a great COVID lockdown project to lift everyone when the country was closed. The first year saw 90 tractors and 20 cars. Then the second year the event grew to about 100 tractors, 30 lorries, 30 cars and a few bikes. Even with a yellow weather warning last year these numbers grew again we had trucks coming from as far as Sligo and the North.
“Planning has started a bit earlier this year as the event has grown each year and we have a few extras to be announced closer to the time. We started earlier last year with registration from 5pm and we got the run started shortly after 6pm which was great for the children that had travelled to see the parade.”
This year’s route is much the same as previous years leaving CBM Signs on the Port Road, passing Tobins going up the Port Road, down the Main Street, heading out the Blaney road across the Pole Star Roundabout in front of the Mount Errigal Hotel then up the Business Park Road to the Mountain Top roundabout and then go back down past the hospital and back to CBM Signs. Turning at the Mountain Top allows everyone taking part to see all the vehicles taking part.
“This route works well has there is plenty of safe places for everyone to watch the parade along the route,” says Bernard.
“Everyone is very welcome all you need to do is arrive on the night. All vehicles need to be roadworthy have drivers must have the relevant licence. No Test pilots need apply! Get your LED Lights, batteries and cable ties ready to Light Up Letterkenny.
“I would like to thank, the Gardaí and all the other people who support and help on the day as always.”
