Independent Marian Harkin seems to be the candidate most in danger of losing their seat in the South Donegal, Sligo/Leitrim constituency.
She had the seventh-highest total of first preferences in the four-seater constituency, after the first count which concluded late last night.
Meanwhile Fine Gael’s Frank Feighan topped the polls, with 8,980 first preference votes – still well short of the quota of 11,381.
He was followed by Sinn Fein’s Martin Kenny on 7,764, both of them holding a notable lead over the chasing field.
Michael Clarke of Independent Ireland on 5,979, Eamon Scanlon of Fianna Fail on 5,913 and Chris MacManus of Sinn Fein on 5,173 look to be locked in a battle for the final two seats currently.
Up next is Dr Edel McSharry on 4,466 votes, followed by incumbent candidate Marian Harkin on 4,347, and Paddy O’Rourke of Fianna Fail on 4,066 votes.
Three candidates were eliminated after the first count in Sligo-Leitrim: Molly Candon (The Party For Animal Welfare) 423 votes, Caroline Corcorane (Independent Ireland) 69 votes, and Diarmuid MacConville (Independent) 64 votes.
