Fine Gael’s Frank Feighan is the first candidate to be deemed elected in the Sligo/Leitrim constituency.
He topped the polls in the constituency which also contains South Donegal after the eleventh count.
Sinn Fein’s Martin Kenny also remains in good shape to claim the second of the four seats, at 10,218 votes – still 1,000 short of the quota of 11,381.
Fianna Fail’s Martin Scanlon remains in third, on 9,740.
Elsewhere the incumbent Independent TD Marian Harkin looks like she may pull off a shocking comeback to claim the fourth seat.
Despite a poor showing in the first-preferences, Harkin has transferred well and currently sits fourth and primed to take the final seat.
She is still trailed closely by Independent Ireland’s Michael Clarke though, who is on 7,969.
