The eliminations are beginning of candidates at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny at the Donegal Count of the General Election.
Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty and Padraig Mac Lochlainn were both elected last night as the count rumbled on until 2am.
Both non-party candidates Vincent Bradley and Arthur McGuinness were eliminated on the third count while Fianna Fáil’s Claudia Kennedy reflected a poor showing for her party and was eliminated on the fourth count.
Another non-party candidate Frank O’Donnell was eliminated on the fifth count.
His votes are now being distributed.
