Downings Ladies’ side are through to the All-Ireland Junior Football Final.
They defeated Kildare champions Kilcock by a goal this afternoon, 1-07 to 0-07.
Downings made use of homefield advantage by striking two points in the opening ten minutes of play.
Then a superb finish by Sinead McBride just as the game hit the quarter-hour mark set them up in fantastic position to make the All-Ireland final.
Kilcock were far from beaten though, and would string together a number of scores to tie the game up twice before half time, the score eventually level at 1-03 to 0-06 at the break.
Downings again stretched their advantage after the half-time interval, knocking over two scores in the first fifteen minutes in a defensive affair.
Kilcock would again pull within one point in the 51st minute with their first point of the second half, but two more scores in the dying minutes secured the win and a well-deserved All-Ireland Junior Final berth for Downings.
