Illistrin FC held their annual awards night yesterday, celebrating players from the club’s 13 playing squads.
The Silver Tassie Hotel played host to the club’s underage footballing stars, with players from U12 to U16 levels collecting recognition medals and awards for their contributions across 2024.
A very special guest was also on hand to present the awards, Shelbourne Captain and Donegal native Mark Coyle.
After Captaining his side to a League of Ireland Premier Division title, Mark spoke to the players about the importance of believing in yourself, taking on the challenges set by their coaches and most of all enjoying their football.
Over 200 children from 13 squads received recognition for their hard work, with individual Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year trophies also being awarded for each team.
Club Chairman Annraoi Cheevers also presented club stalwarts Paddy McDaid, Hugo Daly and Dermot McGuiness were presented with Club Appreciation Awards, given for the time and expertise that they gave to the players, fellow coaches and executive over many years of excellent service to the club and community.
Eddie McGarvey was also named as the 2024 Club Man of the Year on the night.
He thanked all involved and talked of how proud he was to see the children in the club grow through his years in such a fantastic environment within the club.
