Donegal Sports Partnership is keen to gather as many local nominations as possible for the 2024 Volunteer in Sport Awards.
The national initiative aims to honour the selfless dedication of volunteers who help make Irish sport accessible and thriving. The awards, which will be celebrated in Dublin in February 2025, are organised by the Federation of Irish Sport and supported by 29 Local Sports Partnerships across Ireland. These awards will bring together volunteers from all 32 counties to recognise their hard work and passion in making sport possible at all levels.
More than 460,000 volunteers are active in sports clubs and community organisations across Ireland, contributing an estimated €1.5bn to the national economy.
The 2024 Volunteers in Sport Awards is proudly supported by the National Network of 29 Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs).
Declan Boyle, CEO of Donegal Sports Partnership, highlighted the significance of the awards.
“We all know someone whether a coach, volunteer, parent, or fellow club members, who have made a lasting impact, whether through their commitment to your development as a player, team or their dedication to your club,” he stressed.
“This is your opportunity to acknowledge their hard work and passion. We encourage you to take a moment to put forward the name of someone who deserves recognition for their exceptional contribution to sport in Donegal, and nominate them for the Volunteer of the Year Award. Let’s ensure their efforts are celebrated at this prestigious event in Dublin.”
