The Butt Drama (BDC) Circle lets the genie out of the bottle this weekend with their much-anticipated Christmas Panto, ‘Aladdin’.
The award-winning group will unleash their latest festive show at the Balor Theatre on Friday night, running until December 14th.
The BDC’s annual Panto has become a Twin Towns institution, allegedly signalling the official start to Christmas across east Donegal.
Famous for entertaining audiences of all ages, this year’s offering is no different, promising once again to be a Christmas delight for all the family.
Despite the absence of a few handsome cast members from last year, a number of new stars will take to the famous Balor stage under the direction of the evergreen JC Bonar.
In far off China, evil Abanazar (Michael Given King), will stop at nothing to harness the power of the Genie of the Lamp, (played by Highland Radio’s Rory Farrell). Abanazar has world domination in his sights and is just one step away from success.
However, a family posse of unlikely heroes are out to foil Abnazer’s scheme. An innocent local lad, Aladdin (Kyle McLaughlin), his brother, Wishee Washee (Kevin Beirne) along with their mother, Widow Twankey (the gorgeous Desmond Crawford) are ready to intervene and save the day!
Also coming to their aid are the mystical Slave of the Ring (Aoife Magee), the Emperor of China (the not-so-gorgeous Dean Gillespie), Princess Jasmine (Grace Quinn), and So-Shi, her lady in waiting (Doireann McMahon). They will be joined by a pair of bumbling police officers, Ping and Pong (Nicole Laverty and David Dooley). Just all the ingredients needed for an evening of great entertainment and fun for all the family!
Tickets for the show are selling at a furious pace. For bookings, contact the Balor Box Office
on 0749131840 or log on to www.balorartscentre.com
Shows take place nightly at 8pm (Wed-Fri) with 4pm Matinees on Saturday and Sunday.
