Community steps up to raise €10,700 for Donegal Down Syndrome and Little Angels!

St. Johnston walker Danny Gallagher inspired another amazing fundraiser this year to raise €10,700 for Donegal Down Syndrome and Little Angels Special School.

Danny successfully completed 170 kilometres of the Portuguese Camino in October to raise much-needed funds for two important local charities.

And he had a huge amount of help from some generous friends along the way.

It all kicked off in August with a community walk from Rossgier to Maggie’s Tavern.

This, along with a coffee morning and Camino dance and plenty of sponsorship helped Danny and the committee reach their amazing total.

A total of €10,700 was raised, with €5,350 donated to each charity. Both Emma Bradley Chairperson for Donegal Down Syndrome and Ailbhe Dunne Principal of Little Angels School were delighted to accept the donations. Ailbhe added that this was much welcomed as they transition into their new Little Angels School, while Emma said the Donegal Down Syndrome family would have the biggest and best Christmas party ever.

The organisers thanked everyone who attended the events and made donations. They also expressed gratitude to the committee members Joe McKean, Vincent McGrath, Laura Doherty, Diane Crawford, and Danny Gallagher for their help, as well as Alice and the staff at Maggies Tavern for their support.

Finally, they acknowledged Danny’s incredible accomplishment of walking over 170km in 10 days on the Camino, which was the catalyst for the entire fundraising effort.

Well done Danny!
