A talented young actor from Letterkenny has been propelled to an exciting role in a new Disney+ series.
Ten-year-old Daithí Ó Haragáin, son of Paul Ó Haragáin and Una Ni Bhriain, is in the Say Nothing drama about The Troubles, now available to stream.
Daithí plays the role of Danny, the young son of the lead character, IRA Volunteer Dolours Price (played by Lola Petticrew).
Say Nothing, produced by FX, premiered last week with all nine episodes available to watch on Disney+.
Daithí appears in two episodes and took the entire production in his stride, according to his father Paul.
“There is a lot of excitement obviously but he was very cool about the whole thing. He was able to ask questions of the directors and he found it easy enough to do,” said Paul.
“He really enjoys it, it seems to come naturally to him.”
Filming took place in London last year, during which Daithí, a pupil of Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin, kept up to date with his schooling through a one-to-one tutor.
Daithí hones his skills with the Encore Performance Arts Academy and is proudly represented by their agency – Encore Collection by Rebecca Thompson and Laura Douglas.
The agency has hinted at more exciting projects for Daithí, stating: “This is only the first announcement for Daithí as he is currently filming for another major television production – details will be announced soon!”
Say Nothing, which is earning positive reviews from critics, is based on the best-selling book by Patrick Radden Keefe, which recently ranked #19 on the New York Times’ 100 Best Books of the 21st Century. It tells the story of various Irish Republican Army (IRA) members while exploring the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence.
