A drunk man found sleeping in a Letterkenny takeaway has been ordered to make a €100 contribution to charity.
Eddie Curran, 27, was found sleeping by staff at Chicking takeaway on the Port Road on November 3rd, 2023.
Curran was sleeping at a table and Gardai had to arrest him for his own safety, Letetrkenny District Court was told.
The court heard that Curran, of Knocknamona Terrace, was “highly intoxicated.”
A fixed charge penalty notice was issued but never paid.
His solicitor, Mr Kieran O’Gorman, said his client had simply too much to drink.
Judge Eiteain Cunningham ordered the accused to make a €100 contribution to St Vincent de Paul and adjourned the case until January 13th next.
If the contribution is not paid, Curran will be fined €150 and have a conviction recorded against him.
