Charles Ward from the 100% Redress Party is calling on the people of Donegal to stand together and fight for what’s right.
Growing up on Arranmore Island, where his father worked as a fisherman and “tunnel tiger,” Charles intimately understands Donegal’s resilience and the hardships facing its communities.
From working in construction to serving as a healthcare assistant caring for dementia patients, Charles’s path reflects his commitment to Donegal. Now living in Drumkeen with his wife Angela, an Assistant Principal and long time campaigner, and their four children; Charles is a devoted advocate for homeowners affected by the defective concrete crisis.
In this message to Donegal Daily readers, Ward says this election is a crucial moment for all people in Donegal:
For too long, Donegal has been ignored. Our homes crumble while Dublin offers empty promises. Sixty homes—just sixty—rebuilt out of tens of thousands destroyed by defective concrete. That’s the reality. What they’ve done tells you everything about what they will do: more delays, more excuses, and more heartbreak for families left to suffer alone.
But we have a chance to change this. This is our moment to make Dublin listen. By electing an affected homeowner, someone who’s lived this nightmare, we send a clear message: we will not be ignored anymore.
This is not about politics—it’s about survival, dignity, and justice. The clock is ticking. If we don’t act now, the opportunity is gone. Gone for our neighbours. Gone for our families. Gone for our future.
I am not standing for myself; I’m standing for all of us. I expect solidarity because this fight is about more than one person—it’s about Donegal standing together as a community. We deserve better than broken promises. We deserve full redress and real action.
Help yourself. Help your neighbours. Help Donegal. Let’s demand justice together.
Vote Charles Ward, Number 1—Our Last Chance to Be Heard. Don’t let this moment slip away.
Why I am standing
I never wanted to run for public office. My wife and I have spent years advocating for and supporting homeowners devastated by defective concrete, often at the expense of our family life. I am stepping forward now because this is our last opportunity to be heard—to demand justice for the thousands of families left to suffer while Dublin makes excuses.
Many people believe we’re sorted, but nothing could be further from the truth. Two failed redress schemes have left families in limbo, living in homes that crumble around them. My own child is on three inhalers and a tablet because of the black mould. Parents are afraid to let their children play in our home because of the conditions. Lives have been destroyed, mental health shattered, communities torn apart.
What’s worse is the repeated trauma of having our reality denied by those in power. Their promises have amounted to nothing—60 homes rebuilt out of tens of thousands. What they’ve done tells you what they’ll do if we let this moment slip away: more delays, more denial, more destruction of lives.
This is why I’m standing. I’m not backed by a big party machine; I’m a single candidate, a homeowner living and breathing this nightmare daily. No one will ever be as invested or as relentless in this fight as I am. I know the pain, the despair, and the daily struggle because it’s my life—and it’s the life of thousands of others in Donegal.
We are fighting for more than homes. We’re fighting for the dignity and mental health of our families, for the right to live without fear and insecurity, for justice that’s long overdue. My wife and I have given everything to this cause. This campaign is not about politics — it’s about Donegal’s future, and we need your help.
Regardless of your past voting history, I ask you to come out and vote this one time—for me, for us, for Donegal. I need your number 1 vote because that’s the only way to ensure our voices are not eliminated early in this race. Together, we can send a message to Dublin that Donegal will not be ignored anymore.
This is our moment. Let’s stand together and fight for what’s right.
