Watch: Why Eric Roberts’ greatest video won’t see the light of day!

Donegal Tiktokker Eric Roberts says he has one surprising video on his phone that he will not post.

The video, he says, was made in Donegal and features a garda chasing a horse.

“I was in traffic, there was a big line of traffic, the handbrake went up and I was sitting there,” Eric said.

“Then in the distance, I saw a horse galloping towards me. Then a Garda chasing it.”

Eric thought he was sneakily recording the events when he caught the garda’s attention.

“I was thinking this is the most Irish thing I’ve ever seen,” he said.

“As the Garda comes in you can see his head turn and run towards me.”

After hiding his phone, Eric claims that the Garda demanded to see his driving licence.

“He took it and ran on after the horse,” Eric said.

“About 10 minutes later he comes back with the licence and says ‘if you post that on TikTok I’ll come looking for you’.”

Eric admits he still has the footage in his drafts though!

Eric speaks to Carl about his career so far and how he went to therapy after appearing on Squid Game: The Challenge.

The best phone call he’s ever received, Eric admits, was a phone call that made him feel a ‘whole pile of emotions’ – the phone call from the makers of Squid Game: The Challenge to say he had been cast in the series. He explains to Carl that he is a ‘competitive’ person and was away for three weeks so people at home believed he had won the competition. However, in truth he was battling through rounds of the games, a process that was much tougher than he ever imagined.

“I was in therapy after the show. It was the most intense, horrific thing I’ve done in my life. It was awful,” he tells Carl.

Speaking about the first challenge he says: “It took me six and a half hours to cross. I finished second – my legs were seized up, people were soiling themselves, people were fainting. It took some people nine hours to cross the line.”

“It was one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life,” he adds.

The experience has made him wary of signing up for another reality TV show: “If another reality show comes around I’d have to be very cautious!” he says.

A former SNA, Eric has amassed thousands of followers for his videos online and has gone on to present at red carpets including the IFTAs (where he fangirled over Cillian Murphy!)

Eric says ‘the biggest buzz’ he gets online is the reaction to his nephew Oisín, who has cerebral palsy and autism: “There’s vanity in what we do – the validation of going viral, getting likes. It doesn’t happen with Oisín. What happens with Oisín is I get messages off parents with children and adults with disabilities and they say what it means to see something like that on the mainstream, something that sheds light that these are human beings, and they’re incredible and talented. That for me is the biggest buzz that I get.”
