A woman charged with using fake documents to apply for an Irish passport has been ordered to surrender her real passport and not to leave the island of Ireland.
Bridget McDonagh was arrested and appeared before Falcarragh District Court in Co Donegal today.
The 44-year old is charged with the offence at the Irish Passport Office at Balbriggan in Dublin on August 23rd, 2023.
She is charged that she did in connection with an application for the issue of a passport, provide false information or documents which were false or misleading.
The charge was Contrary to Section 20 (1a) of the Passport Act 2008.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins said they had no objection to Ms McDonagh, of Coill an Airgid, Donegal Road in Ballybofey, being released on bail.
However, he requested that the accused obey a number of conditions.
These include that she reside at the above address, surrender her passport, not to apply for a new or duplicate passport, not to leave the island of Ireland and provide a phone number to Gardai.
Sergeant Collins told the court that directions will be required from the Director of Public Prosecutions adding there may be further charges in the case.
The woman was represented by solicitor Rory O’Brien.
Judge Eiteain Cunningham adjourned the case until February 24th, 2025.
