Hundreds of people turned up at the Mount Errigal Hotel on Friday night last to honour broadcaster Charlie Collins.
The sportscaster has called time on his 40-year career, having made significant contributions to Highland Radio, Donegal Sport Hub, and most recently, Donegal Daily.
Many notable faces turned up at the Letterkenny venue to pay tribute to a man who has given his life to his local community and county.
There were some very special video tributes from a number of people who could not make last Friday’s emotional event including GAA star Michael Murphy and golfer Paul McGinley.
Those who spoke to MC Sean Perry on the night included Donegal’s first All-Ireland winning manager Brian McEniff, rally star Rory Kennedy, athletics guru Patsy McGonagle and former Finn Harps and Linfield player Anthony Gorman.
But the centrepiece of the night proved to be the specially-made video documentary filmed by Bradas O’Donnell recalling Charlie’s life and times.
Despite the large crowd who attended the event, there was stunned silence for the entire 26 minute long video.
