A young Co Donegal man is to stand trial for the alleged rape of a young woman.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his alleged victim, appeared at Letterkenny District Court.
He has been sent forward for trial to the current sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
The man, who is in his early 20s, faces two charges of rape and sexually assaulting the young woman on a date in April, 2021 under the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) act of 1990.
The man, who did not speak during the brief appearance, was accompanied to court by a relative.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the case to go forward to th current sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
A book of evidence was served on the accused and Judge Eiteain Cunningham gave him the alibi warning.
The man’s solicitor, Mr Frank Dorrian, requested two counsel to represent the man which was granted by Judge Cunningham.
He was released on bail to attend the Central Criminal Court.
