Gardaí in south Donegal are urging drivers to follow special speed limits set outside schools after several detections yesterday.
One motorist was caught speeding up to 58km/h in a 40km/hr area outside Kilbarron N.S. in Ballyshannon on Monday morning. Another was travelling at 56km/h.
The temporary reduced speed limit of 40km/h applies on the N3 in the area of the school between Monday and Friday during the school term at specified times. (Drop off and collection times).
“A number of other areas within Donegal also have various special speed limits in place in the area of their schools. Please familiarise yourself with them,” said a spokesperson for the Donegal Town Roads Policing Unit.
“Motorists, please ensure to slow down, especially when approaching a school. Abide by the rules of the road and always be in a position to stop suddenly.”
