Gardai are investigating a break-in to a car parked in the car park of An Grianan Theatre in Letterkenny.
Entry was gained to the car at Port Road between 7.30pm and 11pm on Saturday night last, November 9th.
The car was searched through and a sum of money was stolen from a wallet that was in the car. A number of bank cards were stolen also. No damage was caused to the car.
Gardai are appealing to anybody who may have observed suspicious activity in the area between those times to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100. The Garda Confidential line may be reached on 1800 666 111.
Gardai have issued a warning to people not to leave valuables in their cars.
A spokesperson said “We want to take this opportunity to advise the public to be aware of the security of their car and the contents.
“Please park in well-lit areas and always ensure that your car is locked. Keep all cash, handbags, purses, etc, out of your car.
“Do not leave anything of high value in it which can be quite a common occurrence at this time of year when out people are out doing the Christmas shopping.
“If you must buy something of a high value then please leave that purchase until you are ready to go home so you do not have to leave it unattended whilst you finish your shopping.
“If you ever see anyone attempting to open cars or looking into cars and you feel that their behaviour is odd while you are out and about, please contact Gardaí immediately.”
