There was a great gathering at Caisleáin Óir Hotel in Annagry this week as two men pulled up anchor after a lifetime serving the community.
Eddie Joe Mc Gee and Seamus Corbett have known many early and late shouts to help others less fortunate than themselves.
As volunteers with Bunbeg Coast Guard, the men puts in an incredible 28 years service.
As was said on the night, the men served their community with unwavering commitment and selflessness.
“Through countless nights, early mornings, and at any hour the alarm sounded, these two men answered the call. Rain or shine, they stood ready at their station, putting their lives on hold to help those in need, side by side with their team.”
Last night, friends, workmates, and close companions gathered to honour their remarkable service.
They reminisced, sharing laughter and heartfelt memories, some joyful and others poignant.
But even amidst the celebration, there was a bittersweet note—saying goodbye is never easy when two such remarkable men leave behind an extraordinary legacy.
Those gathered were told that their dedication and sacrifice will not be forgotten, and that their impact on the Coast Guard and everyone they’ve touched will last for years to come.
