Planning permission is being sought for a new apartment building in the heart of Letterkenny for international students.

The 32-bedroom complex is proposed for an unused site (pictured above, right) off the Ramelton Road and beside the An Grianan Theatre and the Regional Cultural Centre.

Plans for the four-storey building show a rooftop space used for a day room, servery, IT room and laundry room.

The development has been proposed by M&B Kelly and designed by William Donoghue & Associates.

Intending to cater to ATU Letterkenny students, the layout has been designed to “house international students comfortably and to a high level of comfort and security and that will act like a home away from home.”

The building would be “as carbon neutral and environmentally friendly as possible” with Geothermal or air to water heating system in conjunction with underfloor heating will be used to heat the building and photovoltaic solar panels.

The proposed development includes one disabled parking space along with bicycle parking.
