The epic adventures of elephants have influenced wild new sounds from Laghey’s Michael Doherty (aka Michael Dohc).
‘The March of the Voiceless’ is out this Thursday 7th November. It’s already pulsating across the airwaves, with praise from Jenny Greene on RTÉ 2FM and iRadio DJs.
The electronic track is as mighty as the animals that inspired Michael in the most unexpected way.
“The track came to light after I watched a BBC documentary about the migration of elephants,” Michael explains.
“It’s an emotional rollercoaster of a song, I think. It’s really about the fight for survival of a herd of elephants. The baby gets split from its pack and nearly dies as it’s not strong enough. But the mother and two from the herd stay with it, and they finally come across water.”

Michael’s passion for music ignited early. He dabbled in music production at 14 and DJing soon after. By 21, he’d landed his own iRadio show. After five years on the airwaves, Michael took a break to travel to Australia and Canada.
Yet, the pull of music was undeniable. Returning in 2022, he’s been expanding his discography and even graced the stage at the Donegal Town Summer Festival this year.
