Burt man Mark Coyle has helped Shelbourne FC to lift the SSE Airtricity Premier Division title.
Coyle didn’t have to travel far as he played a captain’s role as Damien Duff’s side beat Derry City 1-0 at the Brandywell.
The win kept the Dublin side’s noses in front of their rivals Shamrock Rovers to claim the title in the last game of the season.
Coyle played with both Finn Harps and Cockhill Celtic before joining the former Republic of Ireland star Duff at Shels.
Duff has consistently sang the praises of his captain throughout the past two seasons.
But Coyle knew it would be a team performance at the Brandywell and had no complaints when Duff took him off after 60 minutes tonight.
With Rovers beating Waterford United in Tallaght, it looked like Stephen Bradley’s team could make it a historic five titles in a row.
But Harry Woods had different ideas as he got on the end of a parried free kick from another former Finn Harps player Sean Boyd to find the net.
