The volunteer crew of Arranmore RNLI were called out in the early hours of this Thursday morning to assist in a medical evacuation from the island.
At 2:50am, the lifeboat was launched to transfer a patient from the island ambulance to a waiting ambulance in Burtonport. The patient was then transported to Letterkenny University Hospital for further medical care.
The crew consisted of Coxswain Sean Curtin, Relief Mechanic John Mc Hugh, Seán O’Donnell, Kieran O’Donnell, and Sharon O’Donnell.
Relief mechanic John Mc Hugh said “We are a 24/7 emergency service and are happy to be called out to assist in whatever emergency arises, day or night. We would like to wish the patient a speedy recovery and thank both the island and mainland ambulances for their services. We work very closely with all the emergency services who are also on call around the clock.”
