St John’s Sligo 2
Lagan Harps 2
Lagan started on the front foot with Robbie Dolan playing Aiden Devir in, but the St John’s keeper saved well. Damien McFadden then was unlucky as his shot went narrowly wide. Kai Brown saved well from a free kick down to his right to keep the score at 0-0. Ronan Lynch played in Aiden again, forcing the keeper into another good save. On forty one minutes Stephen Hegarty and Billy McCarron combined well, Stephens ball in found Aiden and he turned his man and fired home to put Lagan one up at half time.
Fintan Loughran drove forward and his cross was met by Damien, but his effort just went wide off the far post. From a corner kick, Dean headed wide on fifty five minutes. A great cross from the right from Damien was met well by Caolan McBride but his effort went over the bar. Against the run of play, St John’s equalised after a shot from twenty five yards cannoned off the post and the St John’s forward fired home the equaliser. The Sligo side then went ahead after a great cross was fired home at the back post. Aoghan Rodgers then crossed for Caolan but his shot just went over. As the time was ticking down St John’s played a short kick out, Aiden and Aoghan pressed the keeper and his clearance flew into the net off Aoghan to force the game into extra time.
Both teams managed out extra time with the only chance to note being a free from Jack McConnell that went narrowly wide.
Penalty scorers for Lagan Harps were Jack McConnell, Dean Ramsey, Ronan McGee while Kai Brown was the hero saving two St John’s penalties.
