Donegal ETB Golf Society’s second outing of the 2024/25 season took them to the picturesque setting of Greencastle Golf Club.
As the members travelled towards the coastal town, all thoughts were on the expected arrival of Storm Ashley and if they would succeed in getting around the course before the Atlantic Ocean bared its teeth. As it transpired, their fears were unwarranted as the sun shone throughout the day with little to no breeze.
Paddy McDaid took the honours with a magnificent score of 44 pts. Danny Conaghan finished in 2 nd place with a very impressive 39 pts.
Alex Harkin and Aidan Guthrie completed the top four with 38 pts each with Alex edging it on a B.O.T.
It was a special weekend for the McDaid family, with Paddy securing first place, his son Adam who accompanied Paddy on the day celebrated his 18 th birthday and also received a call up into the Finn Harps squad for the final league game of the season. A memorable weekend for the McDaid clan.
After two events in the Golfer of the Year Table, Paddy McDaid has opened up a 12pt. lead on 46 pts after his outstanding victory in Greencastle and taking 3 rd spot in Letterkenny last month.
Tommy Greally sits in 2 nd place on 34 pts, with last year’s Golfer of the Year winner Aidan Guthrie in 3 rd place on 32 pts. Elaine Russell, winner of our 1 st outing in Letterkenny completes the top four on 30pts.
In the Mary Ann Kane Memorial Magnificent 7 Signature competition, Eamonn McDonnell leads the way on 6pts, followed closely by Captain Myles Sweeney and Aidan Guthrie both on 5pts. Elaine Russell. Leo Gallagher, Paddy McDaid and Tommy Greally all sit on 4pts.
Special thanks to Danny McCartney and all in Greencastle Golf Club and restaurant for hosting and for their hospitality on the day.
