A second fundraiser ‘Gig for Gaza’ will be held in An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny, next week.
As Israel’s invasion of Gaza continues unabated, and the death toll continues to rise, local activists in Donegal are holding a fundraising concert featuring many up and coming local bands. The event will take place on Wednesday, 30th October, at 7:30 pm.
The bands playing include: Heads of State, Chonk, Adair, Amy Meehan and Boy M5.
The event will be opened with an address by veteran Derry human rights activist and journalist, Eamonn McCann.
The proceeds from the event will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) which has been working in Palestine and with displaced and refugee Palestinians since 1982. The first Gig for Gaza, which was held in March, raised €6,000.

The humanitarian crisis, which has included the destruction of health and welfare infrastructure and the blocking of humanitarian aid, continues unabated.
“It has been called a genocide and was recently described by the UN High Commission for Human Rights Gaza as ‘a wasteland of rubble and human remains’, where survivors – men and women, children and the elderly – struggle to hold on to life amid deprivation and disease,” said spokesperson for the organisers, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (Donegal branch).
“Israeli bombs have spared no one – not journalists, students, scholars, doctors, nurses, babies, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, civil servants, people seeking food and safety or humanitarian workers, including UN staff. Entire families have been exterminated and generations erased, with millions of lives torn apart.”
