Gardaí in Donegal town detected a car travelling at 134 KPH per hour in a 100 KPH speed zone on the N15 in the early hours of this morning.

They subsequently discovered the driver was an unaccompanied learner who had no insurance. The NCT on the vehicle had also expired in excess of a year and the front tyres were excessively worn. The vehicle was seized.

“Never take dangerous risks on the roads. Slow down,” a garda spokesperson said.

“If you are not insured to drive, stay off the road. Never take to the road before ensuring that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition.”
