Letterkenny Gardaí have launched an investigation after a car struck a shopfront in the town in recent days.

The incident occurred at Universal Books on Church Lane, just off the main street, sometime on Friday night or in the early hours of  yesterday morning. Considerable damage was caused to the security shutters.

However shop owner, David Faughnan, had somewhat of a lighthearted take on the incident.

“So, someone drove into the shop this evening…. could you not at least wait until Monday like everyone else,” he posted on their Facebook page.

A garda spokesperson confirmed the matter is currently under investigation.
