Donegal County Council says that a part of Letterkenny’s busy Main Street will be closed all day Sunday due to essential safety works.
The segment of Main Street between Rosemount Lane to Market Square will be shut to complete the works “to undertake necessary works in the interests of public health and safety,” according to the Council.
Parts of the front of a number of derelict buildings on the main street are coming apart, and have been judged to be sufficiently dangerous that immediate works are needed.
The works will take place between 5am on Sunday morning, until 7am on Monday morning.
Diversions will be in place from Rosemount Lane to the Pearse Road tomorrow during the works.
These works come after the state of the buildings was recently brought up at a meeting of Donegal County Council.
It was proposed that a hoarding be erected in front of the buildings, which have had steel fencing and concrete bollards established at the front for a number of months already.
