Three Donegal bus depot employees were winners at the recent regional ‘Go the Extra Mile’ (GEM) Awards which recognise excellent customer service, community impact, performance and forward-thinking.
Prizes were issued in a number of different categories including Apprentice of the Year, Depot of the Year, Craftworker of the Year and several other categories, including driver and community awards.
A total of three awards are going home to Stranorlar this week with winners of ‘Apprentice of the Year’, ‘Executive Officer of the Year’, and the ‘Going Green Award’ being won by locals.
Eoin McGloin won ‘Apprentice of the Year’ for his attention to detail and willingness to learn. The ‘Going Green Award’ championing green initiatives was awarded to Shaun Doherty. The ‘Executive Officer of the Year’ went to Adam Anderson in recognition of his support for colleagues. All three are employees of Bus Éireann at their Stranorlar depot.
The Bus Éireann regional awards take place across the country in October and the winners of each region will go forward to the National GEM awards on the 11 December in Dublin.
