Gardaí in Donegal are calling on the public to alert them to the use or sale of fireworks this Halloween.
Fireworks and bangers are illegal in the Republic of Ireland without a licence and those who sell/use them face fines of up to €10,000 and/or 5 years in prison.
“Halloween is approaching and it can be a fun time of year but unfortunately for some it is the stuff of nightmares because of the misbehaviour of a few!,” said a spokesperson for gardaí in Donegal.
“Fireworks are illegal and they are the cause of many injuries every year. Please act responsibly and alert Gardaí if you come across the use or sale of fireworks. If you have any information in relation to people who are engaging in anti social behaviour, selling fireworks or stockpiling materials for bonfires, please contact your local 24/7 Garda Station:
Letterkenny Garda Station 074-9167100
Buncrana Garda Station 074-9320540
Milford Garda Station 074-9153060
Ballyshannon Garda Station 071-9858530
“Many people sustain horrible burn related injuries at this time of year. We want to prevent this from happening. Let’s all try to have a safe but an enjoyable Halloween!
