A search party is being assembled this Saturday to search the Lagg slipway area of Inishowen for a missing man who is believed to have entered the sea.
The man, aged in his early 70s, was seen entering the water at Lagacurry Beach on the Isle of Doagh on Saturday afternoon, 5th October.
Following land and sea searches, gardaí made a public appeal for any information which may help with the search and recovery.
This Saturday 12th October, experienced volunteers are set to gather to scan the Lagg slipway at low tide in the morning.
“Please don’t take any risks and we ask that only fit and able people attend for this low water search,” a notice said.
Searches have been conducted along the coast by Coast Guard Units from both Greencastle & Mulroy, MRCC Coast Guard Malin Head, Rescue 118 Sligo Based Helicopter, RNLI and An Garda Síochána.
The man is described as being 6ft 2inches tall. He was last seen wearing a bottle green heavy jumper, blue collared shirt, navy cords and black boots.
Gardaí have called on fishermen working in the area, landowners with coastal shoreline and any persons engaged in any activity in this coastal area to be aware of the investigation and report any information to An Garda Síochána.
Gardaí said that the search is being carried out with the presumption that this man is missing, presumed deceased.
A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the family.
