Gardaí have made a fresh appeal for information after a number of officers were assaulted in Donegal town at the weekend.
Five young men were arrested after after guards responded to reports of a disturbance outside a premises on Quay Street, near the local garda station, at around 2am on Sunday morning.
Gardaí who initially responded to the call were assaulted when attempting to deal with the situation.
A number of additional Garda units arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Incapacitant spray was used as part of an escalated response to the public order incidents.
Five men, aged between their late teens and early 20’s, were arrested and later charged. All five are due to appear before Donegal District Court on the 6 th of November 2024.
The Gardaí assaulted during the incident remained on duty until 7am that morning.
