The aurora borealis bloomed into a stunning show over Donegal late last night, much to the delight of patient photographers.
Award-winning photographer Martina Gardiner took this image at the Isle of Doagh at 1.06am on the morning of 7th October.
Her incredible 180 degree panorama view looks towards the starry sky over Malin Head.
Last night’s northern lights started slow, but at around 1am it beamed with a green and red arc and pillars with strong colour (especially reds) visible to the naked eye.
The UK Met Office says that auroral activity is expected to gradually lessen into the coming working week (barring new events) with any activity likely confined to Northern Scotland.
