Gardaí have issued an alert to motorists to check their tyres ahead of Tyre Safety Day on Monday the 7th of October.
The call comes after a detection on the Dual Carriageway outside Letterkenny today, where a driver was fine for having a defective rear tyre (pictured).
Gardaí will be actively checking tyre conditions in various locations on Monday.
A spokesperson said: “Please check your tyres regularly, especially as Winter is approaching. Your tyres are the only point of contact between you and the road and you rely on them to keep you and others safe when travelling. Ensure that your vehicle is Winter ready. Start by checking your tyres!”
Road Safety Week will take place between October 7th- 13th.
