It wouldn’t be a Late Late Show Country Music Special without Daniel O’Donnell, and tonight he’ll be joining the star-studded line-up for a poignant reason.
Tonight’s music special will remember the country singer and songwriter Kris Kristofferson, who passed away earlier this week. Donegal’s Daniel O’Donnell and Eastenders star turned country singer Shona McGarty will pay tribute to the legendary artist and his hits.
Daniel’s recording work was inspired by Kristofferson in many ways. Following the news of his death, Daniel said it was a “privilege” to sing Kristofferson’s songs over the years.
The biggest and brightest stars on the Irish country music scene will be on the Late Late tonight for one of the biggest nights in Irish television.
This week’s show will have something special for the newest of country music fans to the oldest. Lisa McHugh, Lee Matthews, Cliona Hagan and Sandy Kelly will showcase a host of tunes from chart topping hits to some old familiar classics.
Queens of Country Philomena Begley, Susan McCann and Margo will sit down for a chat with Patrick, while Derek Ryan and The Kilfenora Céilí Band will have viewers bopping in their seats.
Patrick will invite Janet Devlin, Garron Noone, Margo and Mike Denver to play the game Wild West Roulette and father and daughter, Jimmy and Claudia Buckley will perform a duet.
Michael English and friends Chantelle Padden, Clodagh Lawlor, David James join together to celebrate country songs much loved the world over.
On the night, another star will be inducted into The Late Late Show Country Music Hall of Fame.
Daniel O’Donnell joined the Hall of Fame in 2019, followed by his sister Margo in 2023.
Also, there is a huge surprise for one unsuspecting Irish country fan.
