Tributes have been paid to former Fianna Fail Minister and TD, Mary O’Rourke after her death.
She passed away today at the age of 87.
O’Rourke served as a TD across four decades, first being elected in 1982, and a number of times was assigned to roles as a Minister within various Governments.
Mary only lost her seat at the polls once, following a scandal after the privatization of Telecom Eireann in 2002.
She was also the sister of the former Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan – making them the first siblings to sit at the cabinet table in Ireland.
Her father, PJ Lenihan, was also a TD in the same Longford-Westmeath constituency she would go on to represent.
