A choir of talented young women from Donegal is preparing the harmonies for an exciting weekend at the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers Convention in the INEC in Killarney.
Danu Young Women’s Choir, under the directorship of Douglas Carnes, has been invited to perform at the Champion’s Gala Concert on Saturday night.
The Letterkenny-based choir had such an amazing time during their introduction to Barbershop Singing during the NYC Midwinter Convention in January, where they were crowned champions, that they couldn’t resist another opportunity to sing barbershop!
While in Killarney, Danu Young Women’s Choir are taking another opportunity to perform by competing in the Youth Chorus Competition. Many of the choir members have also formed Barbershop Quartets and Ceoltóirí Canóla is the first of those quartets to compete at the weekend.
Ceoltóirí Canóla were crowned IABS Youth Champions at the 2023 Convention but this year they are returning to compete in the National Adult Competition on Friday.
The newly formed Quartets ‘Three Basses and that One Tenor’, ‘The Platinum Dolls’ and ‘ASMR’ are due to have their very first public performance during the Youth Quartet Competition on Saturday and they can’t wait to get on the INEC stage!
