Gardaí investigating the theft of tens of thousands of euro worth of work tools from a south Donegal garage have reissued their appeal for information.
The burglary took place at Jordan Motorworx in Mountcharles on Monday, August 12.
The business was targeted at around 1am on the morning in question when two men stole valuable diagnostic equipment, power tools, batteries, chargers and Snap-on hand tools.
The expensive range of equipment include two high-value diagnostic scanners: a Snap-on Apollo D9 and a Topdon Phoenix Smart, as well as an Autel TPMS diagnostic handheld tablet. All Snap-on hand tools are distinctive green and black. Multiple Milwaukee impact wrenches and Dewalt grinders and impact wrenches were also reported stolen.
Officers and plain clothes detectives swooped on the house in the Mountcharles area at the end of August in relation to the investigation. However, no arrests were made.
Today, Garda Sergeant Charlene Anderson said the diagnostic equipment that was stolen is ‘extremely specialised’ equipment and it can only be used by trained persons in the motor trade.
“If anybody has come across these tools for sale at a market, online or by any means, we ask them to make contact with us,” she said.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Gardaí also wish to speak to anybody who travelled on the N56 (between Donegal town and Inver) between midnight and 2am on Monday the 12 th of August.
“There was heavy thunder and lightning that night and this hopefully may jog a few memories,” Sgt Anderson added.
“We are also anxious to speak with the driver of a Toyota Avensis (no further details) that was in the area of the N56 and the Milltown Bar around 1.20am on Monday, August 12th. We believe that the driver of this car may be in a position to assist us with our investigation.”
