A Newtowncunningham family has expressed their deep gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received following a devastating diagnosis.
Local woman Olivia Robb was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in January, a diagnosis that deeply affected her life and that of her husband Brendan and their daughter.
Throughout 2024, fundraisers have been running in various communities to help fund the necessary adaptations to the Robb family home as well as medical equipment and transportation costs to appointments in Dublin.
Numerous events, including music nights, dances, raffles and a self-care day, were organised to raise funds for the Robb family. Olivia’s colleagues at Penneys Letterkenny also generously contributed to the cause through a range of events including a fashion show.
An online GoFundMe page set up by local councillor Paul Canning was a huge success in generating €36,695 in donations.
A message shared this week by Brendan on behalf of himself, Olivia and their daughter Lisa said: “We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who kindly donated to our Go Fund Me. This enabled us to get the transport Olivia so badly needed and to help with the modifications made to the house for Olivia’s needs.
He continued, “We were overwhelmed by the support and generosity from everyone. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
