Finn Harps’ chance of making the play-offs took a blow tonight as they failed to beat bottom-of-the-table Kerry.
Kerry …1 Finn Harps …1
Patrick Ferry put Darren Murphy’s side in front in the 70th minute after a scoreless first half.
It was a perfect time to stick the knife into Kerry and it looked like they might struggle to find an equaliser.
Both Sean Patton and Success Edogun had chances to put the game to bed throughout.
But Sean McGrath had other ideas when he equalised in the 80th minute in what was an overall poor game at Mounthawk Park.
An initial Nathan Gleeson shot was saved by Harps ‘keeper Oisin Cooney but the ball was parried as far as McGrath who tapped home.
Indeed, it was the home side who might have snatched all three points in the closing minutes.
Oran Crowe unleashed a powerful long-range effort which brought the best from Cooney.
Harps are now in sixth place in the league, four points behind Bray with any chance of making the play-offs now looking unlikely.
