A young actor from Gaoth Dobhair has shared his excitement after a film he proudly featured in landed an international award.
Antoin O’Doherty from Gaoth Dobhair has a starring role in “Faith of Our Fathers” which has won a prestigious Gabriel award. The awards are considered the ‘Emmys of Faith Broadcasting’.
On hearing the news of the accolade, Antoin said: “I am thrilled Faith of Our Fathers has received this prestigious award. I am not surprised it has done so well as there was such a great team working on this film. It is well worth seeing and I would like to congratulate all involved on this award.”
The film was commissioned by global satellite giant EWTN and was written and produced in Ireland with an exclusively Irish cast and crew. The movie was filmed in County Down, directed by local man Campbell Miller, a multi-award winner for his previous work in film.
The story follows the harrowing life of a Catholic priest evading capture during Penal times.
‘Faith of Our Fathers’ is available to watch on Amazon Prime and continues to be shown on EWTN which broadcasts to over 435 million television households worldwide on SKY 586, Virgin Media 815, Amazon Firestick, Roku and Online at EWTN.ie.
This is the second EWTN production to receive the prestigious Gabriel award, the first being in 2020 for the EWTN ‘Hope’ docudrama. Both Gabriel Award productions, along with two other EWTN Ireland docudramas, have been presented in person to Pope Francis and screened in the Vatican, Rome.
