As Fianna Fáil holds its selection convention in Letterkenny, defective concrete block homeowners set out to send a message to the party of the Housing Minister.
Approximately 40 protestors gathered at the Dry Arch Roundabout this evening with placards bearing words of heartbreak and frustration.
A mobile home parked in the centre of the demonstration had the poster ‘we would be safer living in this’.
Original plans for a ‘go slow’ driving protest were scrapped earlier today to spare motorists from delays.
With ‘boots on the ground’, campaigners sought to bring home the urgency of the crisis.
Protest organisers have criticised government for its lack of support for homeowners struggling with the grant scheme and decisions to downgrade homeowners.
The protest also seeks to oppose the u-turn on retrospective application of grant scheme enhancements, as well as the slow progress in reviewing IS:465.
The protest is scheduled to continue until 6pm.
