Rescue services were in action on Errigal today after a woman suffered a lower leg fracture.
Donegal Mountain Rescue Team, Bunbeg Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Helicopter were tasked to assist the National Ambulance Service when the call-out was issued shortly after midday.
In difficult weather conditions, a paramedic was lowered down from the helicopter close to the woman’s location and stabilised her on the mountainside. She was then moved to a better location and winched onboard the Sligo-based ‘Rescue 118’. The woman was flown to Letterkenny Airfield where they met with an awaiting ambulance for onward transport to Letterkenny University Hospital.
“We’d like to wish the casualty a swift and full recovery,” said a spokesperson for Bunbeg Coast Guard.
DMRT was stood down at 15:28 hours and said: “Another successful rescue – our thanks to our colleagues at @rescue_118 and @bunbegcgu and we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
