A man has appeared in court in connection with an incident in Stranorlar over the weekend.
Darin Reid was brought before Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
The 34-year-old, with an address at Copper Beech, Convoy, was charged with offences at Main Street, Stranorlar on Saturday, August 7.
Reid faces a charge that he did without lawful excuse damage property, to wit, slapping the front windscreen of a van with an open hand, kicking the front driver’s side headlight of the van and causing damage to a passenger’s side window of the van, belonging to Paul McCool.
The charge is contrary to Section 2 (1) of the Criminal Damage Act, 1991.
Reid is also charged with one count of dangerous driving and of a charge of a breach of the peace.
Evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of Reid was given to the court by way of schedule by Sergeant Gerard Dalton.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said there were “various responses to various charges” which she would take note of.
Reid was represented by solicitor Mr Kieran O’Gorman.
Reid was granted bail on condition that he stay away from the alleged injured party, Mr McCool, and that he does not interfere with any witnesses in the matter. Reid was ordered to be of good behaviour and commit no further offences.
Reid must sign on at a garda station once a week and provide gardai with a telephone number on which he is to be contactable 24/7.
