Letterkenny Golf Club – this week’s club notes

Here are the latest Letterkenny Golf Club notes after an eventful week, including the Ciaran Gilcreest Memorial Golf Day.

The Ciaran Gilcreest Memorial Golf Day took place at Letterkenny Golf Club on September 1,2024. The event was blessed with well-overdue good weather, and the course was in fabulous condition, providing the perfect setting for a day of golf and remembrance.

There was an impressive turnout, particularly from the ladies, with over 100 members coming out to support the day. The competition was strong, with some fantastic scores recorded.

Jalisco Shortt emerged as the overall winner with 39 points. Eamon McGlinchey took second place, also with 39 points, and John Russell claimed third place with 38 points.

Additionally, a raffle was held, with all proceeds going towards Pieta House, a cause close to many hearts. The first prize in the raffle was won by Patrick O’Gorman, while the second prize went to Christopher Duffy. Both prizes were kindly sponsored by Jimmy Gallagher, PGA.

Prizegiving was held on Wednesday night in Hunters Bar & Grill for the following competitions;
Wednesday Open 21/8/24:
Hugh Hamilton (23) 36, Winner.
Wednesday Open 27/8/24:
Charlie Coughlan (10) 41, Winner. Kevin Kiely (8) 40, Runner Up & Gross.
Saturday Open 31/8/24:
Philip Connolly (27) 41, Winner. Damien Redmond (18) 39, Runner Up.
Kevin Rafferty (scratch) 35, Gross. PJ Nee (7) 38, 3rd. Peter Dobson (10) 36, Cat 1. Gabriel Mc Nulty (16) 35, Cat 2. Brian Hegarty (25) 37, Cat 3.
