Superstar singer Daniel O’Donnell has again urged his fans to beware of online fraudsters.
The latest scheme involves people pretending to have a personal link to Daniel and spreading false information to get them to join a group.
One example, shared by Daniel, was a person falsely claiming to have spoken to him in ‘hospital’, at a time when the star revealed he had a chest infection.
The fake account goes on to discuss meet and greet opportunities with fans, only if they join a Facebook group.
“Please don’t engage with anyone saying they have personal information regarding Daniel,” said a warning on Daniel’s page.
Daniel has had to issue repeated alerts to his fans to watch out for scammers on social media.
Earlier this summer, he met a fan in the US who lost money to someone pretending to be him online.
Daniel urged fans: “Please, I beg of you, don’t engage with anybody on Facebook or Messenger or any other way — I will not contact you personally, and I will certainly not ask you for money, for me or for foundations or anything. Absolutely never will I contact you personally.
“So please, please, if anyone contacts you saying they’re me, delete them immediately.”
